THE LIMBO KING! Whitfield Morley, a fisherman was heartbroken over a failed relationship so he took to frequenting the night clubs and local dance halls as his getaway zone and repair therapy.

Friends marveled at his dance moves and how low he could get on the floor. “Why don’t you do limbo dancing?” they asked. And the new King of Limbo in The Bahamas was born.

Whitfield, a graduate of the Sandilands Primary and L. W. Young High School went home and built his own limbo pit. He practiced at every spare minute he got. Adding the beer bottles to his cross bars and the fire and the swirling serving trays. “I liked it. It was so easy. I taught myself how to limbo so I put my own style and swag into it,” he says.

Sixteen years later, and known as ACTION, the Limbo King of the Bahamas all over the world, Morley has entertained thousands of visitors and locals alike and his pleasant personality and energy makes for a memorable act. He got his first limbo at what was then the Fun Club or Holiday Inn on Paradise Island and now appears regularly at Breezes Super Club, Sandals and special calls in the Family Islands. His performances are on You Tube.

“I was lucky to find something that I loved to do. At first I did not even truly know the influence limbo had on the culture of the Bahamas. I got into it and taught myself it because there was no one around who was interested in passing on the skill. I think young people have to motivate themselves just like I did. Find the thing you like and what you have a natural ability in and go from their. Don’t’ let nothing… nothing get in your way,” he says.

The Limbo and Fire Dance is a unique and compelling part of the Culture of The Bahamas and ACTION is keeping it alive.
