“Paving the way for a better golfing experience for all pros”!

Get use to this name because this new body will set the standards for professional golfers in The Bahamas, and will raise the bar for those who come here to play golf professionally.

Our Story

It’s no longer business as usual, according to one of the members of this new group, as changes should have been made a long time ago.

And to support the new angle to which professional golfers should conduct affairs in The Bahamas, a lot of time and energy was put into assembling this powerful group of professionals to do just that.

Not only are they professional golfers but they are consummate professionals in their respective fields. Many have gone above and beyond just being professionals but the best professional that they can be.

“We are all so very proud of this group that lead the new Bahamas Professional Golfers Federation”, said their president, newly inducted US African-American Hall of Famer, Glenn Pratt. “It’s almost like a miracle, as everyone came together so smoothly without any coercion or demands. They all just wanted to be a part of this movement that will set the standards to which we operate”.

Golf is a very big part of our tourism in The Bahamas. Thousands of Golfers from around the world come here to play golf, and many come to play professionally. The Bahamas is known as a golfers paradise and one only need to look at the exclusive gated community and see that more than 40 of the top golfers in the world have homes in Albany, Bahamas.

There needs to be regulation and coordination for golf in The Bahamas, and one of the main aims and aspirations of the BPGF is to bring structure and regulations for playing golf especially on the professional level.

As a result the formation of the Bahamas Professional Golfers Federation is multi-fold. Their primary focus is to level the playing field for Bahamian Professional Golfers. The in and out of foreign golf pros without any vetting and confirmation of their qualifications is to be a thing of the past. Their aim is to first of all be informed of any vacancy for a professional golfer and see who among their members in the federation can fill that post before The Bahamas Government give Carte Blanche for anyone to come in.

The BPGF is looking forward to working with the owners of all golf courses in the country. There is enough for everyone they said and as a result there should be a smooth transition to filling any vacancies for a professional.

The next item that the BPGF is concerned with is the easy way in which tournaments are set in The Bahamas without any consultation or input from the local professionals or the Federation.

The weather is always beautiful in The Bahamas and international organizers always look to have tournaments in The Bahamas, but they overlook getting sanctioned by the governing body. As a result nothing is being left in the country but because of the lucrative environment everything is taken back out. The BPGF is adamant about putting a stop to that. Therefore they have met with different sectors of government to make sure there is some teeth in their federation.

To date the BPGF has met with some success and a lot of that is attributed to the powerful members of the Federation. Members who are concerned and committed to improving golf for professionals and also making The Bahamas a much sought after golf destination. They want to make sure that playing golf is truly better in The Bahamas.
